Meet Autumn Meek (BSc ’06, MSc ’08, PhD ’12), a Dal Science grad and a Scientific Associate at the University Health Network Therapeutics group at the Krembil Research Institute. In her role, she identifies protein binding sites, supports virtual screening, and helps guide the synthesis of drug therapeutics.

Autumn’s interest in medicinal chemistry started during her BSc at Dal, where she says she “learned how to put the ‘re’ in research!” She went on to complete her MSc and PhD in chemistry at 9 1��Ѱ���.

Meet Sophie Hamr (BSc ’14),  a Dal Science alum and Associate Medical Director at Scientific Global, a medical communications agency. Her job involves research and working on marketing and educational projects for healthcare clients.

Sophie’s interest in research and communications started during her time at Dal. “It sparked my lifelong love of science and taught me important research, comprehension, and communication skills that I use to this day!”

Meet Ernest Ng (BSc ’23), a Dal Science alum and first-year medical student at Dal. His days are a mix of lectures, tutorials, and clinical rotations. While his days are full, he still tries to give back to the community where he can, volunteering weekly with the Kids Run Club initiative in the HRM.

Ernest was first introduced to healthcare during his undergrad in neuroscience and while volunteering with the 9 1��Ѱ��� Medical Campus Response team. After graduating, he took some time off from school and worked in the Faculty of Science. After considering different career paths, he landed on medicine.

Meet Erin Keltie (BSc ’16, MSc ’18), a Dal Science alum and current Analytical Lab Manager at Dryve Battery Materials. In her current role, she oversees a team of lab technologists who do physical, chemical, and electrochemical tests on lithium-ion battery materials. Her time is usually spent researching analytical methods and managing laboratory operations.

While battery materials were new to her before starting in her current role in 2022, Erin noticed an overlap from her studies. Mineralogy concepts from her undergrad, material synthesis techniques from her master’s, and analytical chemistry methods from working in Dal’s Health and Environments Research Centre Lab helped her transition.
