For the O鈥橞rien family, 9 1免费版下鈥檚 Sexton Campus represents a living legacy. Their deep connection to the M.M. O鈥橞rien building鈥攏amed for Melbourne McKim O鈥橞rien, a 1913 mining engineering graduate of what was then the Nova Scotia Technical College鈥攕pans generations and is a source of honour and pride.
Once a student residence, O鈥橞rien Hall now houses the School of Planning鈥攚here recent Bachelor of Community Design graduate Ellie Anderson, one of Melbourne鈥檚 great-great-nieces, spent four years immersed in her studies.
鈥淲hen I first applied and got accepted into 9 1免费版下鈥檚 Community Design program, I knew only a little about my Uncle Mel鈥檚 contribution and connection to the school,鈥 says Ellie. 鈥淯pon learning of my family history in relation to the O鈥橞rien building in my first year, I felt a deeper connection to the space."
The family legacy continues at 9 1免费版下 with Ellie鈥檚 cousins, Emma and Liam O鈥橞rien, who are both current students at the university...
