Next week at Ruminate, Dr. Ryan Sommers, the Medical Officer of Health for Colchester, Cumberland, and Pictou counties and the municipality of East Hants, will be joining us to discuss vaccines! Dr. Sommers will present on the benefits of vaccines, the science behind them, and the society factors . He will also discuss how this relates to the general public's view of science and impacts uptake and fuels myths. He will also touch on the role of scientists in the age of social media as well.
Dr. Sommers works to maintain and improve the health and well-being of our Nova Scotian communities by providing leadership and expertise on such topics as communicable diseases, health policy, chronic disease, and preventative medicine. He has done specialty training through the University of Toronto in Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and been a part of the Colchester East Hants Health Authority medical community since 2008 as a family physician.
We hope you'll join us on June 17th in the Douglas Room of Cumming Hall from 12:30-1:30.
